1911-1914 D304 Brunners Bread Jack Barry

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00

This extremely sharp looking sample card, from the rare D304 Brunners Bread bakery series, features shortstop Jack Barry of the Philadelphia Athletics. Similar in design to tobacco and candy cards of the era, Brunners measure slightly larger than T206s, at 1.75 x 2.5 inches, and are considerably rarer than most 1910 era "E" and "T" card issues. The fronts feature very attractive full-color illustrations, each of which is unique to this issue. These bakery cards were issued in Buffalo and come with several different styles of advertising on the reverse. This sample features the Brunners Butter-Krust brand bread ad on the back. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with four sharp corners, a tiny surface flake in the extreme upper right corner, no creases, and snow-white borders. The reverse is flawless with bold green print set against a striking off-white background. A very clean, attractive, and for this issue very high-grade sample card of this scarce prewar food issue. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
