1911 M116 Sporting Life Joe Tinker PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,997.50
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Highest-graded example. One of only five examples graded at this level with none graded higher. Magnificent ultra high-grade example of Hall of Famer Joe Tinker from the very popular M116 Sporting Life series. As a member of baseball's most famous double-play combination, "Tinker to Evers to Chance," Tinker reigned supreme as one of the era's best fielding shortstops, leading the National League in fielding on four separate occasions. His fine play also helped lead the Cubs to four pennants and two World Championships between the years 1906 and 1910. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946, two years prior to his death. This is a stunning card. The flawless portrait image is perfectly centered, with four sharp corners (displaying just a slight hint of wear under high-powered magnification), flawless registration, and snow-white borders. The reverse is centered slightly high, with the advertising for Sporting Life boldly printed in black. This is an exceptional high-grade example of one of Joe Tinker’s most striking cards. SMR value is $1,400. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,997.50
