1909-1911 T206 White Border Hughie Jennings PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One hand showing pose. One of only eight graded at this level with none graded higher. This is a very sharp ultra high-grade example of one of Hughie Jennings' most classic cards. Extremely clean both front and back, with four sharp corners displaying just the slightest hint of wear under magnification in the upper right, centered slightly to the left (35/65), with vibrant colors, and perfect registration. This is a beautiful card! Scarce El Principe De Gales advertising on reverse. This is one of two high-grade T206 El Principe De Gales Hall of Famers saved by an old-time collector in the 1970s, which because of their extraordinary condition he kept separate from his T206 set (in varying conditions, also offered in this auction). REA sent both to PSA for grading. (The other card graded only PSA 5 due to a minor technicality, but both cards obviously survived in an ideal environment.) Grading standards were different in the 1970s but it is easy to see why both cards would be treated especially well in any era of collecting. The SMR value for the T206 Hughie Jennings in the assigned grade is $2,650. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
