1967 Topps "Who Am I?" Test Card Collection Including Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr (4)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00

Collection of four extremely rare 1967 Topps "Who Am I?" test cards, each graded and encapsulated by GAI: Lyndon B. Johnson - Senator (NM-MT 8), David McCallum (EX 5), Paul McCartney (NM-MT 8), and Ringo Starr (EX-MT+ 6.5). The inclusion of two Beatles (Paul and Ringo) makes this a particularly significant group for these rarities for Beatles card collectors. (Note: examples of John and George are also known.) 1967 Topps "Who Am I?" cards are one of the most unusual and interesting sets ever produced by Topps. The set features many important figures in world history, including presidents, inventors, and athletes, each with a scratch-off disguise, and clues to help kids identify the famous person. The back of each issued card has additional clues and instructions to "Scratch off disguise on front to discover Who I Am. Use a coin or fingernail." Presented are four cards which were not included in the final production of the set, and were created by Topps specifically as test proof cards. This group of four with blank backs never saw public distribution, and were produced utilizing materials for internal use only, as a test design concept for a set that was, of course, fully executed. These test proof cards literally represent the creation of the "Who Am I?" concept. This is an exceptional group of these virtually unique Topps cards, which long ago originated from the Topps vault and are held in extremely high esteem by advanced collectors both for their extreme rarity and significance to the set, as well as for their very striking and unique design. Total 4 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,410.00
