1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Tully Sparks

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $822.50

Graded VG 40 by SGC. E107 of pitcher Tully Sparks of the Philadelphia Nationals. Sparks is pictured wearing his Boston uniform from the 1902 season, and is identified with Philadelphia, his 1903 team. A rookie in 1899 when relief pitching was a rarely practiced art, Sparks topped the National League in relief innings pitched and relief ERA. He became a starter in the Phillies' rotation in 1903, highlighted by a 22-8 career best in 1907. In Very Good condition, with a single crease in the upper right, evenly rounded corners, and a couple light stains. The back is clean with bold black printing. This is a very attractive medium-grade E107 example. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $822.50
