1964 The Beatles Signed Souvenir Booklet

Starting Bid - $2,500.00 , Sold For - $10,575.00

British souvenir fan magazine dating from the 1964, titled Beatles on Broadway , signed on the cover in vintage blue ink by each member of “The Fab Four”: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. McCartney has also signed the book a second time, also in blue ink, in the interior on the title page. This is an extraordinary signed Beatles item, extremely high quality, with an exceptional and ideal-for-display cover. All of the signatures have been boldly penned and grade “9.” The signatures of Lennon and Starr have in part been scripted upon a darker area of the cover and thus contrast at a slightly lesser degree than those of McCartney and Harrison. According to the accompanying letter of authenticity from world-famous Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, the signatures on this cover “date from mid 1964, shortly after the book was published in Great Britain.” The thirty-two page soft-cover booklet, which consists entirely of captioned photos, chronicles the Beatles historic 1964 inaugural visit to the United States, including their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show . The colorful cover features portrait images of each band member superimposed upon a photo of the New York skyline. Written and compiled by Sam Leach, a former British promoter who helped discover The Beatles. Published by World Distributors (Manchester) Limited, Manchester, England, 1964. This high-quality publication was especially popular with fans. It was eventually translated into eleven different languages and sold nearly a million copies. This is a particularly ideal item for a vintage set of Beatles signatures, not just because of its obvious spectacular display value, but also because it dates from and refers directly to the group’s first historic tour of the United States. The production quality of the cover is better than a magazine, as intended, to encourage fans to buy it. With all the nonauthentic Beatles "signed" items in the marketplace (the Beatles, along with Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis, are among the most commonly forged of all modern signatures), authentic examples are sometimes not appreciated as much as they should be, simply because collectors sometimes think they have a real signed item when they do not. This is an ideal item, personally signed by all four Beatles (Paul McCartney twice) during the most exciting times of their career, in the months immediately following their conquering of America. The publication (8.25 x 11.75 inches) is in Excellent to Mint condition. LOAs from renowned Beatles authority Frank Caiazzo, and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $10,575.00
