1881 to 1925 Gold Coin NGC Collection (8 coins)
Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $2,643.75
Offered is a collection of six NGC-graded early twentieth-century United States gold coins and two additional nineteenth-century United States gold coins, for a total of eight U.S. gold coins, spanning the years 1881 to 1925, and representing three different denominations (two and a half dollars, five dollars, and ten dollars): 1) 1881 Ten-Dollar Liberty-Head Gold Coin (this one coin is not professionally graded; nice-looking coin with great definition and a few light scratches, appears at least AU 50). 2) 1895 Five-Dollar Liberty-Head Gold Coin. Graded MS62 by PCGS. 3) 1909 Five-Dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded AU50 by NGC. 4) 1909 Two and a half dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded AU 53 by NGC. 5) 1910 Five-Dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded VF35 by NGC. 6) 1910 Two and a half dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded AU 55 by NGC. 7) 1912 Two and a half dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded AU58 by NGC. 8) 1925-D Two and a half dollar Indian-Head Gold Coin. Graded AU58 by NGC. This is a very attractive group of quality American gold coins, thirty-five dollars in face value, obviously with some numismatic value but not astoundingly above that of their gold content (we are not coin experts but this is what we have been told). These are exciting American gold coins, relatively modestly valued compared to their gold content, that have a total weight of approximately 1.75 ounces, and which could serve as an fascinating and enjoyable store of value, or an educational tool and an introduction to the collecting of American gold coins. Total: 8 coins. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,643.75
