1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Jimmy Ryan
Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,057.50
Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. Presentable example of Washington outfielder Jimmy Ryan from this extremely rare set. One of the game's early power hitters, Ryan led the National League in home runs, hits, and doubles for Chicago in 1888. He was a leader in the movement that established the Players' League in 1890. Ryan was one of the game's most durable stars. Many believe that his impressive statistics, which include 2,502 hits and a lifetime batting average .306 over eighteen seasons, qualify him for consideration for induction to the Hall of Fame. Ryan is one of the great stars that appear in both the N172 Old Judge set of the late 1880s and the E107 set. This card was issued in 1903, Ryan’s last year in the Major Leagues. The card has rounded corners, a couple of creases, a bold portrait and a clean back. An extremely attractive example of one of the most prominent veterans of the game at the time the E107 set was issued. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
