1968-1970 Gail Goodrich Phoenix Suns Game-Used Home Jersey

Phoenix Suns home jersey worn by Hall of Fame guard Gail Goodrich during his two-year tenure with the club (1968-1970). Graded A10 by MEARS. The white cheese-cloth jersey is lettered “Phoenix” across the front and features the number “25” on the front and reverse. “Goodrich" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in orange on purple tackle twill. A "Spanjian 42” label is situated on the left front tail. Original and unaltered, the jersey displays moderate-to-heavy wear. Goodrich was a two-time All American at UCLA before embarking on a successful NBA career. Drafted by the Lakers out of college in 1965, he was later acquired by the Phoenix Suns in the 1968 expansion draft. During his two seasons with the Suns, Goodrich blossomed into a superstar. In the 1968/1969 season Goodrich averaged 23.8 points per game (sixth best in the League) and 6.4 assists per game. The following year, his final season with the Suns, he led the team with 20 ppg and 7.5 apg. After the 1969/1970 season Goodrich was traded back to the Lakers, where he helped lead the club to two NBA Finals and one World Championship. A five-time All-Star, Goodrich was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is currently the only Gail Goodrich jersey listed in the MEARS population report. This jersey has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen.
