2004 Sean Taylor Washington Redskins Rookie Home Jersey
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,057.50
Sean Taylor Washington Redskins home jersey dating from his 2004 rookie season. The maroon mesh jersey features the number “36” on the front, reverse, and each sleeve. “Taylor” is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters are appliquéd in white tackle twill; all numbers are appliquéd in white on gold tackle twill. The official NFL patch is situated at the base of the front collar. The team name, “Redskins,” is embroidered in white on the front, directly above the number. The year and size (“04-46”) are printed in black on a white strip patch in the collar. A “Reebok” label and “46” size tag are located on the left front tail. Original and unaltered, the jersey displays light wear. Free safety Sean Taylor was one of the NFL’s top defensive players before his tragic death on November 27, 2007, as a result of a gunshot wound sustained while confronting an intruder in his home. Nicknamed “Meast” by his teammates (half man-half beast), Taylor had the reputation of being one of the game’s hardest “hitters” and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2006 and again, posthumously, in 2007. Taylor only wore number “36” during his rookie season, switching to number “21” the following year. Graded A5 by MEARS (no post-1987 jersey can achieve a higher grade than A5 without additional provenance). This is one of only two Sean Taylor jerseys listed in the MEARS census (the other is also from 2004 and is graded A8). LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
