2006 Brian Urlacher Chicago Bears Signed Game-Used Jersey

Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $3,525.00

Phenomenal Chicago Bears home jersey worn by future Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher during the Bears’ Super Bowl season of 2006. Urlacher wore this jersey on December 3, 2006, in a game against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldiers' Field in Chicago. He has personally attested to the jersey's provenance by inscribing it in black Sharpie on the reverse numeral "4": "Brian Urlacher 54 - Game Worn 12-3-06 vs. Minn. – 2006 North Division Champs.” That first-party provenance, combined with the substantial game-use wear, has resulted in the jersey receiving a perfect grade of A10 by MEARS. The navy mesh jersey is numbered "54" on the front, reverse, and each sleeve. "Urlacher" is lettered upon a nameplate on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in white on orange tackle twill. The initials "GSH," in honor of former Bears owner and coach George Halas, appear on the left sleeve. Both the year and jersey size (“06 – 50”) are lettered in black upon a white strip tag in the collar. The strip tag also features the written notations, in black marker, “12-3-06” (twice), and “vs Minn.” This jersey features a customized elastic tail and as a result of that process the manufacturer’s label (Reebok) has been removed. Aside from that custom alteration by the team, the jersey is all original and displays moderate-to-heavy use. The degree of use is indicative of Urlacher's hard-hitting reputation. Most noticeable are the purple marks along the shoulders which result from numerous collisions with Viking ball carriers. In addition to the jersey's provenance and Urlacher's personal declaration, MEARS has also positively photo-matched this jersey to images of Urlacher from the December 3, 2006, game against the Vikings. Chicago defeated Minnesota 23-13 that afternoon, registering their tenth win of the season en route to a final regular season record of 13-3. Brian Urlacher is considered one of the finest defensive players in football today. A five-time Pro Bowl selection, he is one of only five players ever to be voted Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year (2000) and Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year (2005) during his career. He is also only the fifth player in Bears history to receive Pro Bowl selections in each of his first four NFL seasons (joining Rick Casares, Mike Ditka, Dick Butkus, and Gale Sayers). This is simply a spectacular game jersey, worn by one the game's elite players, during the course of one of the team’s finest seasons. Graded A10 by MEARS (5 point base grade plus 5 points for the first-party provenance). To date, this is only the fourth Urlacher jersey graded by MEARS and only the second to receive a grade of A10. This jersey has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525.00
