2004 Jorge Posada Signed Pro-Model Bat

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $940.00

Jorge Posada Louisville Slugger signature model "P320" bat dating from the 2004 season. Graded A10 by MEARS. The bat displays significant use along its entire length, including numerous deeply embedded ball and stitch marks, rack marks, and cleat marks on the barrel, and an abundant amount of pine tar on the handle. The handle was also once wrapped with tape (since removed) but remnants of the tape still remain, as does the outline of the original tape pattern. Posada has personally attested to the bat's provenance by inscribing it in blue Sharpie (grading "10') on the sweet spot of the barrel, "Jorge Posada - 04 Game Used." A Steiner Sports authentication hologram label appears on the barrel and a Major League Baseball authentication hologram label is affixed to the knob. Posada became the Yankees everyday catcher in 1998 and quickly established himself as one of the top hitters at his position. In addition to leading the Yankees to three consecutive World Championships, Posada has also appeared in five All-Star Games and has been awarded three Silver Slugger Awards (designating him as the League's top hitting catcher). He is also second on the Yankees all-time list for home runs by a catcher, trailing only Yogi Berra. Posada batted .272 with 21 home runs and 81 RBI in 2004. Length: 34.25 inches. Weight: 34.5 ounces. Graded A10 by MEARS (base grade of 5, with 3 points added for use and 2 points added for the inscription). This is currently one of only three Posada pro-model bats listed in the MEARS population report and is by far the highest-graded example (the other two are graded A6 and A5, respectively). LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $940.00
