1980-1982 George Brett Pro Model Bat and 1973-1975 Carl Yastrzemski Pro-Model Team Index Bat (2)

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,762.50

1) 1980-1982 George Brett Louisville Slugger Signature Model "T85" Bat. The bat displays moderate use including ball and stitch marks, rack marks, and pine tar on the handle. Brett's uniform number ("5") and his initials ("GB") are written on the knob in black marker. Length: 34.87 inches. Weight: 32 ounces. Factory records indicate that Brett first ordered model "T85" bats matching this bat's specifications on 1/7/80 and continued to order them through 9/23/82. Graded A8 by MEARS (5 point base grade plus 2 points for use and 1 point for the knob markings). This is one of fifteen 1980s George Brett pro-model bats listed in the MEARS census, with no others graded at this level, and only one graded higher. 2) 1973-1975 Carl Yastrzemski H&B Signature Model "K48" Team-Index Bat. The bat displays heavy use including ball and stitch marks, and deadwood along the entire barrel (slight grain separation). Yastrzemski's uniform number ("8") is written on the knob in faded black marker. Length: 34.75 inches. Weight: 33.8 ounces. There are no records of Yastrzemski having personally ordered model "K48" bats between the years 1973 and 1975; however, he did order model "K48" bats, matching this bat's specifications, during the 1960s. Factory records indicate that the Red Sox ordered hundreds of assorted bats, listed simply as "Index," between the years 1973 and 1975. Given the fact that Yastrzemski's uniform number is on the knob of this bat, combined with the knowledge that he did order this particular model bat in earlier years, increases the probability that it was used by him during some point in his career. Graded A7.5 by MEARS (5 point base grade, plus 3 points for use, but minus a half point for the deadwood). This is one of only thirteen Carl Yastrzemski pro-model bats listed in the MEARS census, with no others graded at this level and six graded higher. These bats have been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat authenticator David Bushing. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,762.50
