1969-1970 Reggie Jackson Pro-Model Bat

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $5,875.00

Reggie Jackson H&B signature model "K75" bat dating from the 1969-1972 manufacturing period. Graded A9 by MEARS; only one graded at this level, with one graded higher. This is a great Reggie Jackson bat! The bat displays heavy use along its entire length including ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, and rack and cleat marks. Jackson's uniform number ("9") is written in black marker on the knob. (Jackson wore number "9" with the Oakland A's from 1968 through 1976.) Although the manufacturing period for this bat spans the years 1969 through 1972, an examination of the factory records can more narrowly define its production date to the year 1969 or 1970. Jackson first ordered this particular model bat, matching this bat's specifications, on 2/2/69 and he continued to order them through the 1970 season. After a solid rookie season in 1968, in which he hit 27 home runs and drove in 74 runs, Jackson exploded upon the baseball world the following summer. Displaying the form that would later make him a member of baseball's 500 Home Run Club, "Mr. October" attained career-high totals in home runs (47), RBI (118), runs (123), and slugging percentage (.608). One of the greatest sluggers in baseball history, Jackson currently ranks eleventh on the all-time home run list with 563. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1993. Length: 35.25 inches. Weight: 34.7 ounces. Graded A9 by MEARS (5 point base grade plus 3 points for use and 1 point for the vintage uniform number on the knob). This is currently one of fifteen Reggie Jackson pro-model bats listed in the MEARS census, and it ranks as the second highest-graded example (the highest is A10). This bat has been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat and jersey authenticators David Bushing and/or Troy Kinunen. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $5,875.00
