Starting Bid - $2,500.00 , Sold For - $14,100.00
New York Mets home jersey worn by Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver in 1974. This is an outstanding jersey. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. The white knit pinstripe jersey is lettered "Mets" across the front and features the number "41" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue on orange tackle twill. A Mets team patch appears on the left sleeve. The size, year, and uniform number ("45 74 41") are chain-stitched in blue upon a white strip tag located in the collar. A "Rawlings 46" label is situated on the right front tail. Original and unaltered, the jersey displays moderate wear throughout. When Tom Seaver entered the Hall of Fame in 1992 he did so with an impressive resume of five twenty-win seasons, three Cy Young Awards, three ERA titles, and lifetime totals of 311 wins and 3,640 strikeouts. Seaver enjoyed his greatest seasons as a member of the New York Mets, and he helped lead the club to two pennants and one World Championship during his eleven-season tenure with the club (1967-1977). Seaver posted an 11-11 record with a 3.20 ERA in 1974. He also recorded five shutouts and struck out over 200 batters for the seventh consecutive season. This is an extremely rare and ideal Tom Seaver jersey dating from very early in his career. Graded A10 by MEARS. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+.
