This collection of eight minor league caps originates directly from the estate of Ed Leishman, a career baseball man who later served as a high-ranking team executive in both the Pacific Coast League and the Major Leagues. 1) 1950s San Diego Padres cap (Pacific Coast League). This was Leishman's personal cap and bears his name on the underside of the brim. McAuliffe, size 7 1/8. Light wear. 2) 1950s San Diego Padres cap (Pacific Coast League). McAuliffe, size 7 1/4. No wear. 3) Circa 1956-1962 Vancouver Mounties cap (Pacific Coast League). Wilson, no size listed. Moderate wear. 4) 1950s Eugene Emeralds cap (North West League). No manufacturer or size listed. Light wear. 5) 1960 Salt Lake City Bees cap (Pacific Coast League). Wilson, size 7 1/8. Date code in hat definitively dates the cap to 1960. Light wear. 6) 1970s Phoenix Giants Cap (Pacific Coast League). Wilson, size 7 1/8. Light wear. 7) San Diego Padres cap (Pacific Coast League). Year(s) unknown. No manufacturer listed. Size "Large" (possibly a retail cap). No wear. 8) Team unknown. Navy cap with a white "B" on the front. No manufacturer or size listed. Heavy wear, especially to the headband. Ed Leishman began his professional baseball career in the late 1920s as a player in the California State League and continued on as an executive into the 1970s. He served as the New York Yankees West Coast farm director (1947-1949) before founding the Salt Lake City minor-league baseball franchise in the early 1950s. In later years he served as general manager of the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League (early 1960s) and was the first general manager of the San Diego Padres Major League franchise (1969-1972). This is a very unusual and interesting collection of rare caps saved by Leishman during his long career in professional baseball. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Total: 8 caps.
