1944 Ducky Medwick New York Giants Game-Used Home Pants
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $411.25
Pair of New York Giants home pants worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Ducky Medwick in 1944. The white flannel pants feature red-and-blue piping down the side of each leg. Medwick's uniform number ("3") is chain-stitched in red upon a white felt tag located on the interior fly panel. The size, set number, and year ("38 1 '44") are chain-stitched in red along the interior waistband. Also appearing in the waistband is the black stenciled name "Walsh." There was no player named "Walsh" on the 1944 Giants roster and Ducky Medwick was the only player to wear number "3" that year. (These pants were probably sent down to the minors later and used by a player named "Walsh," a common practice at this time.) 1944 marked Medwick's only full season with the Giants. He obviously enjoyed his brief time with the club, as he responded with one of his best seasons in years. Medwick batted a team high .337 with 7 home runs and 85 RBI in 122 games. He eventually retired in 1948 with a .324 lifetime average. These pants have been consigned to this auction directly from the personal collection/inventory of world-renowned bat authenticator David Bushing. LOA from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $411.25
