1941-2005 All-Star Game Press Pin Collection (37)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $4,700.00

Outstanding high-grade collection of thirty-seven different All-Star game press pins. Although the first All-Star game took place in 1933, it wasn’t until five years later, in 1938, that the first All-Star Game press pin was introduced. Even then, the issue of All-Star Game press pins was sporadic. After 1938, the next year a press pin was issued for the All-Star Game was 1941, and after that, 1943. It wasn’t until 1946 that the annual production of All-Star Game press pins became a tradition which continues to this day. Offered here is a substantial collection of thirty-seven different All-Star Game press pins (out of a possible sixty-nine), including the extremely rare 1941 and 1943 examples. It should be noted that from 1959 through 1962 two All-Star Games were played each year, with a separate pin issued for each game. In our listing for those four years we have noted the venue of issue for the pins included here. The collection is comprised of the following years: 1941, 1943, 1946, 1947 (Vg-Ex/Ex due to typical light wear associated with this pin due to its design), 1948 (Vg due to a small enamel chip on the edge of the brim, otherwise Ex ), 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956 (Ex-Mt), 1959 (Pittsburgh), 1960 (Kansas City, Ex-Mt), 1961 (Boston), 1961 (San Francisco), 1962 (Chicago), 1962 (Washington), 1963, 1964, 1969, 1970 (Ex-Mt), 1971, 1972 (Ex), 1974, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2005. This is an outstanding high-grade collection assembled over a period of many years by an extremely condition-sensitive longtime collector. Unless otherwise noted, all of the pins are complete as issued with original clasps and are in Near Mint condition. Total: 37 pins. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700.00
