1932 and 1938 New York Yankees Press Pins (2)
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,057.50
Each of these New York Yankees World Series press pins originates from the personal collection of legendary Yankees scout Paul Krichell. The 1938 pin is in Near Mint to Mint condition and remains attached to its original Dieges & Clust card. The 1932 pin is only Vg due to a few small chips to the white enamel ball in the center; it is otherwise in Excellent condition. Both pins are complete with their original threaded-post fastener on reverse as issued. Paul Krichell was the New York Yankees chief scout for thirty-seven years, joining the organization in 1920. In addition to signing Lou Gehrig, he also signed Phil Rizzuto, Charlie Keller, Vic Raschi, and Whitey Ford. At the time of his death, in 1957, Krichell was the longest-tenured employee of the entire Yankees organization. The Krichell Collection was presented in REA's April 2007 auction; his family happened to find these two additional quality press pins after that auction. Total: 2 pins. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
