1929-1931 Philadelphia Athletics World Series Press Pin Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $4,112.50
Collection of three Philadelphia Athletics World Series press pins representing the club’s historic 1929-1931 baseball dynasty. Each of these pins is a significant press pin rarity. Interestingly, these three pins represent the first three undated World Series press pins ever issued. All three pins feature the club’s familiar “White Elephant” logo on the front against a blue backdrop. The 1929 pin features a “keystone” shape (in honor of Pennsylvania’s nickname), the 1930 pin is circular in design, while the 1931 example is fashioned after the Liberty Bell. The 1929 and 1930 pins are high-grade examples displaying only the slightest hint of wear to the white enamel surface and are each in Excellent to Mint condition; the 1931 pin is also a high-grade example and is in Near Mint condition. This is a very strong matched set of these 1929-1931 Athletics pin rarities. All three pins feature a threaded-post back and are complete as issued (no manufacturer listed for each). Total: 3 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
