1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum Connie Mack Pin
Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $3,231.25
1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum pin featuring Hall of Famer Connie Mack during his playing/managing days with the "Pittsburg Pirates." Cameo Pepsin Gum is one of the few sets dating from the nineteenth century to feature Connie Mack. This is one of the true "miracle pins" of all baseball celluloid collecting. This extraordinary example was one of the highlights of an exciting new find of thirty-four Cameo Pepsin Gum pins which was recently discovered in a New Jersey family estate. During the past thirty-seven years, we have seen two other examples of this great rarity. This is an outstanding example, with a sharp portrait image, absolutely flawless contrast, and with original Cameo Pepsin Gum back paper complete and intact on the reverse (the paper on the back has some stains). All Cameo Pepsins are extremely rare. Connie Mack is one of the great highlights in the entire Pepsin Gum pin set, and, in our opinion, one of the great highlights among all rare baseball celluloids. Near Mint condition (without reference to the back paper stains which have no impact on the condition of the actual celluloid pin). Diameter: 1.25 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
