1948 Babe Ruth Watch with Original Case, Box, Registration Card, and Magazine Advertisement

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00

Babe Ruth wristwatch complete with original plastic ball case, retail display box, and registration card. Also included is a vintage magazine page advertisement. This is a classic Ruth collectible and one rarely found presented together with many of its original accessories. The colorful watch, manufactured by the Exacta Time Corporation, features Ruth's image on the facing along with his facsimile signature. Included with the watch is the original plastic ball case, the original retail display box (featuring a photo of Ruth on two sides), the original product registration card (also picturing Ruth), and a portion of a magazine page bearing an advertisement for the watch. The advertisement itself measures 3 x 13.75 inches and features not only an image of Ruth, but also Joe DiMaggio, who gives the watch his ringing endorsement, "Like the BABE himself, it's a HOME-RUN KING!" A photo of the watch is prominently displayed in the advertisement, as is the original price, "$7.95." The advertisement is ideal for display with the watch. The watch is in working order and is in Excellent to Mint condition. The plastic ball case is in Excellent to Mint condition as well. The box is in low grade (the cover is detached and missing a flap, plus the box has numerous tears, some with tape repair) but is still ideal for display with the watch. The perforated gold-colored registration card (4 x 5 inches) has a vertical crease and one of the three perforated segments is detached (all segments are present). In Very Good condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
