1950 Jackie Robinson Dime Bank Die-Cut Counter Display Box Top
Starting Bid - $100.00 , Sold For - $293.75
While most collectors are familiar with the highly visual and classic Jackie Robinson Daily Dime Register Banks issued in 1950 (the yellow tin-litho bank features a colorful illustration of Robinson on the front), this is the first we've seen of this rare complimentary piece: the die-cut cardboard top of the point-of-sale counter display box that once held the Jackie Robinson Daily Dime Register Banks at stores where they were sold. The display features the identical illustration of Robinson (in a batting pose) pictured on the bank and urges patrons to "Save and Win with a Jackie Robinson Daily Dime Register Bank." This is a very interesting and rare Jackie Robinson advertising piece that would be perfect for display with one of the colorful banks. The box top exhibits a few small tears along the lines of the pre-formed folds, as well as a number of light-to-moderate creases, but displays beautifully. Very Good condition overall. Approximately 14.5 x 9.75 inches. We're not sure what this is worth (we know it's not a fortune as it's just the top of the display box) but this is a very rare and fascinating Jackie Robinson piece that is ideal for display, and we may never see another. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300. SOLD FOR $293.75
