Jackie Robinson Memorabilia Collection with Twice-Signed Negro League Program (9 Items)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $2,115.00

Jackie Robinson's great popularity inspired the manufacture of many products bearing either his likeness or endorsement. Offered here is a number of those classic pieces, as well as a twice-signed program and exhibition game ticket. 1) 1958 Negro League East-West Baseball Classic Program Signed Twice by Jackie Robinson. The twenty-page program has been signed by Robinson in pencil (grading "9") on the cover, and then again, in blue ink ("10"), on the first page. Neatly scored in pen. 8.5 x 11 inches. Vg-Ex, with paper residue on the reverse from having been removed from an album. Even unsigned, this is an outstanding seldom-seen rarity from the final days of the great Negro Leagues. The fact that it has been signed by Jackie Robinson, whose success in the Majors ironically contributed to the eventual failure of the Negro Leagues and who no doubt was attending to show support for the once mighty league in its final days, makes it all the more remarkable and significant. 2) 1953 Topps Jackie Robinson Baseball Card. Card number "1." Ex. 3) Circa 1949 PM10 Jackie Robinson Stadium Pin-Back Button with Ribbon. The button (1.75 inches) features an identified portrait of Robinson. Attached is a red/white/blue ribbon that bears a plastic stickpin bearing the team name "Dodgers." Attached to the stickpin is a small charm in the form of a baseball. The ribbon is slightly faded, otherwise Ex-Mt. 4) Circa 1947 Jackie Robinson Old Gold Cigarettes Advertising Card. The front features a picture of Jackie Robinson posing in the dugout alongside a superimposed photo of a package of Old Gold Cigarettes. Robinson's written endorsement appears along the base: "For a treat instead of a treatment I recommend Old Gold Cigarettes. Jackie Robinson." The reverse offers a brief biography of Robinson. 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Vg-Ex, with a very light crease and corner wear. Card collectors have yet to really discover this extremely significant card. In our opinion, this card's a "sleeper." 5) Circa 1952 Jackie Robinson Little League Decal Bat. The bat measures thirty inches in length and although it displays use, approximately 95% of the decal remains. The handle exhibits a repaired 3-inch crack and there are a few minor nicks along the barrel. The initials of a former owner have been carved on the top end of the barrel. Despite the flaws, the bat presents as Excellent. 6) Circa 1950 Jackie Robinson Daily Dime Register Bank. The yellow tin-litho dime bank features a colorful illustration of Robinson on the front. 2.5 x 2.5 x .75 inches; metal construction; Very Good condition. 7) 1946 Exhibition Game Ticket. The full ticket (5.75 x 2.75 inches) is for an exhibition game scheduled on October 1, 1946, at the Polo Grounds between "Jack Robinson's All Stars" and "Chuck Dressen's All Stars." The ticket displays minor border wear and there are a few areas of light surface paper loss on the reverse as a result of its removal from an album. Displays as Ex. 8) 1950 Jackie Robinson "Flip Book." The "Pocket Television Theatre" flip book pictures Robinson batting and includes hitting instructions. 2 x 3 inches. Excellent condition. This is a great Robinson item (and very overlooked by collectors). 9) Jackie Robinson Portrait Ball. Colorful portrait image of Robinson painted upon a side panel of an official National League (Giamatti) ball. The ball is slightly toned, otherwise Near Mint. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 9 items. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,115.00
