1895-1942 Baseball Sheet-Music Collection Including Two Joltin' Joe DiMaggio (12)

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $470.00

Collection of twelve baseball sheet musics spanning the years 1895 to 1942. Every sheet music in the collection pertains to baseball in some way, either by picturing a baseball scene on the cover or mentioning the word "baseball" in the title. Three duplicates are included here, thus the collection consists of nine different titles. This is a particularly impressive group in terms of highlights, especially for a relatively small number of sheet musics, including two 1941 sheet musics featuring Joe DiMaggio. 1) 1895 Manhattan Oval March . Dedicated to the Jasper Athletic Association of Manhattan College. Photo of the Manhattan College baseball team on the cover. Music store stamp on cover. 11 x 14 inches. 2) 1908 The Millionaires March Two-Step. Photo of an unidentified baseball team on the cover. 10 x 14 inches. 3-4) 1908 Take Me Out To The Ball-Game . Two examples, one displays a photograph of Sam Williams on the cover and the other pictures Henry Fink, otherwise basically identical. One also bears the name of a former owner on both the cover and interior. 10.5 x 13.75 inches. 5) 1909 Let's Get The Umpires Goat . Music store stamp on cover. 11 x 14 inches. 6-7) 1911 Home Run Ball . Two identical examples. Light pencil notations on the cover of each. One cover also displays a music store stamp. 11 x 14 inches. 8) 1912 Remember Me To My Old Gal . Dedicated to Chief Bender, Jack Coombs, and Cy Morgan of the Philadelphia Athletics. 10.25 x 13.25 inches. 9) 1920 Six Cheerful Songs . Features a baseball illustration on the cover. 9 x 12 inches. 10-11) 1941 Joltin' Joe DiMaggio . Two examples, one with a white cover, the other a yellow cover. Otherwise identical. The white cover variety is especially rare. Each 9.25 x 12.25 inches. This is a particularly desirable sheet music (two examples) featuring DiMaggio in the year of his record 56-game hitting streak. 12) 1942 Leave Us Go Root For The Dodgers, Rodgers . Cover features a team photo of the 1941 Dodgers. 9 x 12 inches. All but four of the sheet musics ( Let's Get the Umpire's Goat , the two Joltin' Joe DiMaggio , and Leave Us Go Root For The Dodgers, Rodgers ) display interior reinforcement of the spine by means of tape. A few also display interior tape repair to small page tears. Otherwise Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Sheet musics are rare and ideal for display. For some unexplained reason they enjoyed a more enthusiastic collecting base, and sold at considerably higher levels, in the early days of the organized hobby. This may be a great time to buy them. A strong case can be made that quality sheet musics represent an extraordinary value. Total: 12 sheet musics, 9 different. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $470.00
