Harry Hooper Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,527.50

Clark “Big League” baseball signed in black ink (grading “5/6”) on a side panel by Harry Hooper. Hooper has added the date, “2-18-71,” directly below his name. Harry Hooper single-signed baseballs are relatively scarce due to the fact that he passed away in 1974, long before autographs in general, and single-signed balls in particular, became high-priced commodities. Interestingly, Hooper was elected into the Hall of Fame by the veterans' committee in 1971, forty-six years after his retirement. Although the formal induction ceremonies are normally held during the summer, the announcement of each year’s inductees is annually made in January. Therefore, technically speaking, this ball is probably one of the first ever signed by Hooper as a member of the Hall of Fame. The ball is in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,527.50
