Famous Dual-Signed Baseball Collection (20)
Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,410.00
Collection of twenty baseballs, each signed by two players. In most cases the association between the two signers is both obvious and historic (Mickey Owen and Tommy Henrich, or Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson for example), whereas on others it's simply a linking of two great teammates or players (Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr., or Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese). Unless otherwise noted, all of the balls are either official National League, American League, or Major League balls (production date of each between 1970 and 2006) and have been signed in blue or black ink (grading "9/10"). A few of the balls also bear brief additional notations relating to the players or the event linking them. 1) Ted Williams (blue marker)/Carl Yastrzemski (sweet spot), moderate toning, Vg/Ex. 2) Ted Williams/Bill Terry (both signatures occupy a portion of the sweet spot but carry over to the adjacent side panels), last two players to hit over .400, Nr-Mt. 3) Mickey Mantle (sweet spot)/Reggie Jackson, light toning otherwise Nr-Mt. 4) Gaylord Perry (sweet spot)/Jim Perry, Nr-Mt. 5) Bobby Thomson/Ralph Branca (both on the sweet spot), Nr-Mt. 6) Bill Buckner/Mookie Wilson (both on the side panel of an official 1986 World Series ball), Nr-Mt. 7) Tommy Henrich and Mickey Owen (both on the sweet spot), Nr-Mt. 8) Don Larsen (sweet spot)/Yogi Berra, Nr-Mt. 9) Hank Aaron/Al Downing (side panel), mild toning, Ex-Mt. 10) Jim Bunning/Gus Triandos (both on the sweet spot), Nr-Mt. 11) Don Larsen/David Wells (sweet spot), Nr-Mt. 12) Dizzy Dean/Pee Wee Reese (sweet spot), on an ONL (Giles) ball, Vg, with shellac on both signatures ("7/8"). 13) Bucky Dent/Mike Torrez (both on the sweet spot), Nr-Mt. 14) Dwight Gooden (in black marker on the sweet spot)/Herb Score, Gooden broke Score's rookie strikeout record, light toning otherwise Nr-Mt. 15) Ken Griffey Jr./Randy Johnson (both on a side panel of an official 1995 All-Star Game ball), Nr-Mt. 16) Ken Forsch/Bob Forsch (both on the sweet spot), two brothers who have thrown no hitters, Nr-Mt. 17) Charles Finley (sweet spot)/Catfish Hunter, both in black marker, on an unofficial ball, Nr-Mt. 18) Phil Niekro/Joe Niekro (both on the sweet spot grading "6"), Nr-Mt. 19) Don Larsen/Sal Maglie (sweet spot), on an ONL (Giles) ball, "7/8," moderate toning, Ex. 20) Lefty Grove (sweet spot)/Max Bishop, on an unofficial ball, Ex-Mt. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 20 balls. Reserve $500. Estimate 1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,410.00
