Extraordinary Near-Complete Signed Yellow Hall of Fame Postcard Collection (142/147 Possible, plus 23 Additional)

Starting Bid - $5,000.00 , Sold For - $11,750.00

Offered here is a phenomenal collection of 165 signed yellow Hall of Fame plaque postcards, plus three Dexter Press signed HOF plaque postcards. Incredibly, 142 different Hall of Famers are represented within the group of yellow postcards (out of a possible 147), making this a near-complete set. The collection represents the most complete set of these signed cards that we have ever seen or had the privilege of offering. The five missing for completion are Weiss, Paul Waner, McKechnie, Faber, and Goslin. It should be noted, however, that while it is theoretically possible to have cards signed by Weiss, Paul Waner, and McKechnie, it is very unlikely (all three either passed away very shortly after their induction or were seriously ill for an extended period up until their death), and few, if any, examples are known today. The twenty-three extra cards are duplicates (upgrades) and in a few cases, a second example of a later HOF postcard printing. This collection represents the considerable efforts of a very dedicated collector and, naturally, includes a great many rarities (Foxx, Traynor, Flick, Jackie Robinson, etc.). Unless otherwise noted, all of the cards have been signed on the front, in a variety of inks, with the signature grading “9/10.” The players represented here, with the number of cards for each (if more than one) listed in parenthesis, are Aaron, Alston, Anderson, Aparicio, Appling (“6”), Ashburn, Averill (“8”), Bancroft, Banks, Barlick, Bell (‘8”), Bench, Berra, Boudreau, Boggs, Brett, Brock, Bunning, Campanella, Carew, Carey, Carlton, Carter, Cepeda, Chandler, Combs, Conlan, Coveleski (2), Crawford, Cronin (2), Dandridge, Dean (“7”), Dickey, DiMaggio (2, one grades “8”), Doby, Doerr, Drysdale, Eckersley (2, one grades “8”), Feller, Ferrell, Fingers, Fisk (2), Flick (signed on the reverse), Ford, Foxx (signed on the reverse), Frick, Frisch (“7”), Gehringer, Gibson, Gomez, Greenberg (“8”), Grimes (2), Grove (“7”), Gwynn, Hafey, Haines, Harris (2, one grades “7”), Hartnett (2, one grades “7,” the other “8”), Herman, Hooper, Hoyt, Hubbard (“6/7”), Hubbell, Hunter, Irvin, R. Jackson, T. Jackson, Jenkins, J. Johnson (“7”), Kaline, Kell (2), Kelly, Killebrew, Kiner, Koufax, Lasorda (3), Lemon, Leonard, Lindstrom (“7”), Lopez, Lyons (2), MacPhail (“8”), Mantle, Manush, Marichal, Marquard (“7”), Mathews, Mays, Mazeroski (4), McCarthy (2, one grades “7”), McCovey, Medwick, Mize, Molitor, Morgan, Murray, Musial, Newhouser, Niekro, Paige (“7”), Palmer, Perez (2), Perry, Puckett (2), Reese, Rice, Ripken, Rizzuto (“6”), Roberts, B. Robinson, F. Robinson, J. Robinson (on the reverse), Roush, Ruffing, Ryan, Sandberg, Schalk, Schmidt (“7”), Schoendienst, Seaver, Sewell, Sisler (“7”), Slaughter, Smith (2), Snider, Spahn (2), Stargell, Stengel (on the reverse), Sutter, Sutton, Terry, Traynor (“6”), L. Waner, Weaver, Wheat (“6”), Wilhelm (2), B. Williams, T. Williams (“7”), Winfield (2), Wynn, Yastrzemski (“6/7”), and Yount. The three Dexter Press signed HOF plaque postcards included here are those of Boudreau, Coveleski, and L. Waner. The Zach Wheat card displays a small amount of surface paper loss on the front in the lower left corner. The Sisler card displays a number of tiny creases throughout. A few of the cards have a tiny bit of adhesive residue on the reverse from having once been mounted. Otherwise, the collection is in overall Excellent to Mint condition. This is a remarkable world-class near-complete collection of signed Hall of Fame plaque postcards. The SMR value for this collection (we have halved the listed values for all of the cards signed on the reverse) is $17,570. LOA (and individual certs for most) from James Spence/JSA. Total: 168 signed postcards (165 yellow postcards and 3 Dexter Press postcards). Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000+. SOLD FOR $11,750.00
