1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Dave Foutz

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,645.00

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Striking super high-grade example of first baseman Dave Foutz from the Brooklyn Grooms. This is a sharp card! Paired with Bob Caruthers, Foutz pitched the Browns to American Association championships from 1885 to 1887. Sold to Brooklyn in 1888, he eventually moved to the outfield and first base and helped Brooklyn win the 1889 Association championship. As a pitcher, Foutz's .690 winning percentage is the second-highest career mark (tied with Whitey Ford) among retired pitchers. Bright and clean, both front and back, with flawless contrast, only the slightest hint of even wear to the corners, and perfectly centered. This is an outstanding high-grade sample! Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,645.00
