1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Ed Cartwright
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $587.50
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Highest-graded example! E.W. Cartwright, first base, Washington Nationals, dressed in street clothes. Cartwright played only five modest seasons between 1890 and 1897. Cartwright did, however, have one standout season, in 1894 with the Washington Nationals, when he batted .294, with 12 home runs, and 106 RBIs, earning him his place in the Mayo's set. Bright and crisp portrait image, even wear to the corners, some light chipping to the black borders (predominately along the bottom edge), and centered 30/70 left to right, with some minor wear on the reverse. This is a very attractive high-grade street clothes style sample from the premier set of the 1890s. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $587.50
