Safe at Home Movie Poster Collection - One-Sheet and Three-Sheet (2)
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,057.50
Offered here are both a one-sheet and rare three-sheet movie poster for the 1962 Columbia Pictures release Safe at Home, starring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Although the film will never be found on any critic's list of top 100 sports movies, the studio's advertising department certainly hit a home run, as the colorful movie poster has long been a classic among collectors. Both posters feature variations of an illustration picturing the famed "M&M Boys" together with child-star Bryan Russell, "The Luckiest Kid in the World." The one-sheet (27 x 41 inches) displays normal folds as well as tack holes along the border areas, slight separation along a few of the fold lines, and a four-inch diagonal tear in the area of the bottom right border. In Very Good condition. The three-sheet (40.5 x 77 inches) displays normal fold lines (with a few areas of separation along the intersections), minor border tears and a very light stain in the lower right corner. In Very Good to Excellent condition. These posters are classics both as Maris-Mantle display pieces and as baseball-related movie posters. Ideal for display as intended. Both will display as Excellent condition when framed. The larger three-sheet poster is particularly scarce. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
