Circa 1910 Home-Run Stogie Cigar Tin

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,880.00

Extremely rare Home-Run Stogie cigar tin features a magnificent baseball scene on both sides. The tin originally held fifty cigars and was designed to stand on the counter at the tobacco store, dispensing cigars "3 for 5 cents." This is an extremely graphic tin, ideal for display, and though not well known in the baseball collecting field due to its great rarity, it is very well known as a classic and is highly prized in the advertising and tin collecting fields. Manufactured by The J. A. Rigby Cigars Company of Mansfield, Ohio. In addition to its outstanding design, its condition is exceptional for an early tin, grading "8." A preprinted period paper label added on by the store owner reads "Now 2 for 5" and adds a very interesting additional touch. Diameter: 4.25 inches. Height: 6 inches. Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
