Hall of Fame Single-Signed Ball Collection Including Mantle, Williams, and DiMaggio (89)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $7,637.50

This substantial collection of eighty-nine different Hall of Fame single-signed baseballs is noteworthy both for its quantity and the fact that almost half (40) of the players represented here are deceased. Among the highlights are balls signed by Mantle, T. Williams, DiMaggio and Grimes (on an ONL Giles ball). Also included are balls signed by eleven members of baseball's elite 500 Home Run Club. Our consignor began amassing this collection over twenty years ago and the vast majority of the signatures were obtained by him in person at various signing shows. This is truly an amazing collection of Hall of Fame single-signed balls. To put the number of Hall of Famer signed balls offered here into proper perspective, this collection represents exactly thirty-two percent of all Hall of Fame inductees (278 total to date). Unless otherwise noted, all of the balls are either official National or American League balls (production date of each between 1970 and 1999) and all have been signed across the sweet spot in blue ink. The signatures are virtually flawless across the board, grading "9/10" (with the exception of Berra, Drysdale, and Musial, which are still very strong, high-quality signatures, each grading "8"). The collection is comprised of Aaron, Aparicio, Appling, Ashburn, Banks, Barlick, Bell (signed on a side panel), Bench, Berra, Boggs, Boudreau, Brett, Brock, Bunning, Carew, Carlton, Chandler, Cepeda, Conlan, Dandridge, Day, Dickey, DiMaggio, Doby, Doerr, Drysdale, Durocher, Feller, Ferrell, Fingers, Ford, Gehringer, Gibson, Gomez, Grimes (on an official National League Giles ball), Herman, Hubbell, Hunter, Irvin, R. Jackson, T. Jackson, Jenkins, J. Johnson, Kaline, Kell, Killebrew, Kiner, Koufax, Lasorda, Lemon, Leonard, Lopez, Mantle, Marichal, Mathews, Mays, McCovey, Mize, Morgan, Musial, Newhouser, Niekro, Palmer, Perry, Reese, Rizzuto, Roberts, B. Robinson, F. Robinson, Roush, Ryan, Schmidt, Schoendienst, Seaver, Sewell, Slaughter, Snider, Spahn, Stargell, Sutton, Terry, Weaver, Wilhelm, B. Williams, T. Williams, Winfield, Wynn, Yastrzemski, and Yount. All of the balls are in Near Mint condition, with approximately fifty percent displaying very light scattered age toning, and another fifteen percent displaying slightly more pronounced moderate-to-heavy age toning. This is an impressive collection that has been carefully assembled over a period of many years, almost entirely in person, by a very dedicated collector. This very substantial collection has a tremendous break value, and could also serve as the foundation for a world-class collection of Hall of Famer single-signed baseballs. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 89 single-signed balls. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+ . SOLD FOR $7,637.50
