1989 Perez-Steele "Celebration" Postcards and First-Day Covers Signed by Hall of Famers Including Four Mantles (46)

Collection of thirty different 1989 Perez-Steele Hall of Fame “Celebration” postcards and sixteen Gateway first-day covers, each bearing the signature of one or more Hall of Fame players. 1989 Perez-Steele Hall of Fame “Celebration” Postcards: Each postcard has been individually signed in blue Sharpie on the front by the respective player. Three of the cards have been individually encapsulated and labeled “Authentic” by SGC (in conjunction with James Spence Authentication). Encapsulated Cards : Aaron, Reese, and T. Williams. Remaining Cards : Banks, Bell, Bench, Berra, Boudreau, Chandler, Dickey, Doerr, Ferrell, Gehringer, Hunter, Irvin, Kell, Killebrew, Kiner, Lemon, Leonard, Marichal, McCovey, Mize, Musial, Robinson, Snider, Spahn, Stargell, B. Williams, and Yastrzemski. All of the signatures grade “9/10” and each of the cards (3.5 x 5.5 inches) is in Near Mint condition. Gateway First-Day Covers: All of the first-day covers are postmarked between the years 1977 and 1989, and are signed on the front by one or more Hall of Fame ballplayers. Fourteen of the envelopes are individually signed, while the other two bear the signatures of three and four players, respectively. The signatures have been penned in a variety of inks, and unless otherwise noted all of them grade “9/10.” Individually signed envelopes : Aaron (1982), Brock (two different envelopes, one postmarked 1977 [“8”], the other 1979), Dickey (1983), DiMaggio (1981), Kaline (1980), Kell (1983), Mantle (two different envelopes, one postmarked 1979, the other 1986), Mays (1979), McCovey (1978), Spahn (1982), Wynn (1982) and Yastrzemski (1979). Multi-signed envelopes: Both are postmarked “1989” and have been signed, respectively, by Mantle, T. Williams, F. Robinson, and Yastrzemski on one, and Mantle, Mays, and Snider on the other. All of the envelopes (6.5 x 3.75) remain in Near Mint condition. Total: 46 signed items. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
