Hall of Fame Signed Postcard Collection Including Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio, and Rarities (53)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,700.00

Collection of five black-and-white signed Hall of Fame postcards and forty-eight signed yellow Hall of Fame postcards, representing thirty-one different players, comprised almost exclusively of extremely high-demand names and very scarce yellow Hall of Fame plaque players. Usually when signed Hall of Fame plaques are offered by dealers the same relatively common names appear over and over again. Scarce and rare signed HOF plaques are usually absent from such offerings since even dealers who specialize in signed Hall of Fame plaques do not usually have scarcer names in stock. Presented is a collection of scarce and better-name signed plaques, put aside by a very longtime collector and dealer of many years precisely because he appreciated the scarcity of these names. This is a special group. All of the cards have been signed on the front in a variety of inks. The signatures range in grade from “5” to “10,” averaging “8.” The signers represented here, with the number of postcards for each player (if more than one) listed in parenthesis, is as follows. Black-and-White Postcards: Cronin, Dickey, Gehringer, Hubbell, and Terry. Yellow Postcards: Alston, Carey (2), DiMaggio (3), Flick, Frick, Frisch (2), Greenberg, Grove (3), Hafey, Haines, Harris, Hartnett (2), Hooper (3), Lindstrom (2), Mantle (5), Manush (2), Marquard (2), Medwick, Paige (2), Reese, Rice, Ruffing (2), Schalk, Sisler (4), Wheat, and T. Williams (2). Approximately forty percent of the cards display light handling wear along the corners; otherwise all are in Near Mint condition. Total: 53 signed cards (5 black-and-white postcards and 48 yellow postcards). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700.00
