Joe DiMaggio Single-Signed "Stat" Baseball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,645.00
This rare Joe DiMaggio “stat” ball features DiMaggio’s signature across the sweet spot and includes side panel notations, in DiMaggio’s hand, commemorating a number of his lifetime and single-season achievements. North Panel: “#5 MVP ’39, ’41, ’47.” South Panel: “56 in ’41 HOF ’55.” East Panel: “.325 B.A.” West Panel: “361 HRs.” The offered ball is one of a limited number of only 160 balls signed by DiMaggio in this manner and is hand numbered “112/160” on a side panel. DiMaggio was notorious for refusing to add requested notations for fans at signing shows and the special signing of these 160 balls was a major hobby event at the time. Their special status among DiMaggio signed items has long been recognized by collectors in the years following their signing, and they remain among the most highly desirable of all DiMaggio single-signed balls. The signature and all of the notations have been rendered in blue ink (grading “10”) and the ball is in Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,645.00
