1887 N690 Kalamazoo Bats Jim Devlin
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $3,818.75
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Bright and crisp Kalamazoo Bats tobacco card, with printed advertising on the reverse, of A's pitcher Jim Devlin. Kalamazoo Bats with advertising on the reverse are especially rare and desirable. Exceptional contrast with background detail including outfield walls, buildings, and one unidentified player. Extremely clean, both front and back. There are some printing marks, which are as-made (actually in the photo) in the upper right corner, none of which affect the image area, and a light horizontal center crease, which is mostly visible from the reverse. Technically a Vg card, but with a superior appearance. This is a very attractive Kalamazoo Bats sample with a very clean rare ad back. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $3,818.75
