1941 Play Ball #71 Joe DiMaggio GAI NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $4,406.25
Graded NM-MT 8 by GAI. Very sharp looking, extremely high-grade example of 1941 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio, one of collecting's most famous cards, featuring the "Yankee Clipper" in his familiar swing-through pose. Pack-fresh appearance, sharp corners, perfectly clean, both front and back, with virtually flawless registration, vibrant colors, centered slightly low (approximately 65/35 T/B) and a few degrees to the left (approximately 45/55 L/R). The reverse is flawless with bold black print. Being #71 of 72 cards in the set, this card naturally gravitated to the bottom of the stack, exposing it to extra wear and handling, and thus making high-grade examples even more difficult to find than most other Play Balls and most other DiMaggio cards. An exceptionally attractive high-grade example of one of Joe DiMaggio's most classic cards, dating from the legendary 1941 season in which he hit in fifty-six consecutive games. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $4,406.25
