1940 Play Ball #27 Ted Williams

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $940.00

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Beautiful high-grade example of 1940 Play Ball #27 Ted Williams. Clean and crisp both front and back, sharp corners with just a hint of wear, and no print marks. Slight natural toning and slightly to-the-left centering keeps this high-grade beauty from Nr/Mt. A strong case can be made that this EX-MT 6 card represents a particularly outstanding value for the collector who would like a high-grade 1940 Play Ball of Ted Williams, which shares almost all the qualities of a NM 7 example, but does not want to spend the extra dollars a PSA 7 example would cost. Ted's biography on the back of this card was nothing less than effusive about his prospects for future greatness. The text details his amazing rookie feats the previous season, which included batting .327, collecting 31 home runs, scoring 131 runs on 185 hits, and being the first rookie ever to lead the majors in RBIs with 145. This is an exceptionally attractive high-grade example of one of Ted Williams’ most classic cards, dating from his second year in the Major Leagues. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $940.00
