1933 R319 Goudey SGC-Graded Collection Including Ruth and Gehrig (3)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,643.75
Among the most famous of all baseball cards are those of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in the 1933 Goudey set. Presented are two (of the four poses in the set) cards of Babe Ruth (#53 and 144) and one Lou Gehrig (#160) from the 1933 Goudey set, each graded and encapsulated by SGC.
1) #53 Ruth (GOOD 30; small area of paper loss on Ruth's hand and an ink mark on the reverse, otherwise a Vg card with evenly rounded corners); 2) #144 Ruth (FAIR 20; pinholes at the top and bottom, otherwise a solid Vg example); and 3) #160 Gehrig (GOOD 30; background blemish and general wear, but still a bright, clean card with bold colors). These are relatively low-grade examples with outstanding eye appeal, representing an excellent opportunity and a potentially extraordinary value for the collector who wants beautiful original 1933 Goudey Ruth and Gehrig cards at a far more affordable level than high-grade examples. Total 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,643.75
