1928 R315 "Portraits and Action" Babe Ruth SGC NM/MT 88
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,937.50
Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. The highest-graded example ever by SGC or PSA of Babe Ruth from the R315 "Portraits and Action" series. The R315 set has been referred to as the "Portraits and Action" series ever since Jefferson Burdick named them in the 1930s in his first American Card Catalog . It is unknown exactly how they were issued or whether this is a formal name provided by the issuer. We've seen a lot of R315s over the years. This is absolutely the best Ruth we've ever seen. R315s are found printed on several different quality stocks. This example is printed on the highest-quality black-and-white style stock. Magnificent high-grade example in all respects of this 1928 card featuring Babe Ruth in a classic swing thru pose. Bright and crisp, with four razor sharp corners, outstanding picture quality, and perfectly clean front and back. One of Babe Ruth's few cards dating from the late 1920s, in extraordinary Nr/Mt-Mt condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,937.50
