1920s Strip Card and E121 Collection (41) Including Ruth and Cobb
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,643.75
Offered is a collection of forty-one cards dating from 1919 to 1921, comprised of thirty-one different high-quality strip cards (highlighted by Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb) plus ten E121 American Caramel cards. These cards were saved by our consignor's grandfather, who collected these cards as a youngster. They have remained in the family ever since. The strip cards are particularly sharp-looking, though it is very possible that many will not grade numerically due to size requirements or being cut into the dotted lines. 1) 1919-1921 W514 (18 cards): #11, 16, 20, 30, 31 Gandil (Black Sox, Fr), 40 Bancroft (Vg), 43 Cobb (Ex), 47, 48, 63, 66, 68, 71, 75 Baker (Vg), 80, 89, 104, and 109. 2) 1920 W519 (8 of the 10 cards in the set): Includes: Cicotte (Black Sox, Vg-Ex), Frisch (Vg-Ex), Marquard (Ex), and Ruth (Ex). Missing just Collins and Gleason for completion. 3) 1921 W551 (5 of the 10 cards in the set): Includes Bancroft (Ex), Johnson (Ex), Sisler (Vg-Ex/Ex), and Stengel (Ex). 4) 1921 E121 American Caramel - "Series of 80" (ten cards): Includes Collins (Vg) and two Rixey (Vg-Ex and Vg).
