1915 E145 Cracker Jack #175 Joseph Benz PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,997.50

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One of only seven cards graded at this level with none graded higher. This card of Benz is one of the true condition rarities in the entire 1915 Cracker Jack set. Nearly all high-grade Cracker Jack cards were originally from factory sets that were offered on the backs of the cards by mail in exchange for 100 Cracker Jack coupons or one coupon and twenty-five cents. These cards were shipped directly from the factory in numerical order, which naturally subjected the cards at the very beginning and end of the sets to excessive wear, especially the first few and last few cards. High-grade examples of these cards are virtually nonexistent. This #175 Benz card is a rare exception, and in this high grade is on virtually every Cracker Jack want list. Bright, crisp, and clean, with four sharp corners, a flawless image set against a brilliant deep red background, and perfectly centered. The reverse is also perfectly clean, with bold black text, centered slightly to the left. A tremendous example of this significant Cracker Jack condition rarity. SMR is $650. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,997.50
