1911 T205 Gold Border Patsy Dougherty - White Sock Team Emblem
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,115.00
Graded NM 7 by PSA. One of only three graded at this level with just one example graded higher. Extremely high-grade example of the T205 "white sock team emblem" variation of Patsy Dougherty. This card was issued with a "red sock" or “white sock” team emblem in the upper left corner. Most T205s, of course, have survived in far lesser condition, and when dealing with any of the few cards in the set with a notable degree of scarcity, a high-grade example naturally has a special premium value to collectors. The offered card is extremely bright and crisp, and presents a strong and impressive image of Dougherty. This card has four sharp corners with a hint of white showing at the extreme tips, no chipping to the gold borders, perfect registration, and is centered slightly to the left (approximately 35/65). The back is also bright and clean, with bold blue advertising print for Piedmont Cigarettes. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T205 Gold Borders. SMR value is $1,250. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200+. SOLD FOR $2,115.00
