1910 E125 American Caramel Die-cut Honus Wagner (Batting)
Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $7,637.50
Offered is a exceedingly rare E125 American Caramel of Honus Wagner in a batting pose. Wagner is also known to exist in a throwing pose in this series. According to our research, the batting pose is actually even rarer than the throwing pose, with only three examples known to exist. This example is by far the finest of the three in terms of condition. The E125 Honus Wagner (batting pose) has survived complete, with all flaps intact, with stand-up flaps never even having been folded back. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with a very slight crease on Wagner's bat visible only from the reverse, and with some surface flaking on the flaps at the base. The reverse of the card is bright and clean with a small touch of white ink on the bottom right edge (a flaw resulting in this card being encapsulated by SGC as POOR 10). We grade this card Good condition, but it presents far better, and it is the case that a finer example of this incredible rarity may not exist. This is a magnificent specimen of one of the rarest of all Honus Wagner cards, from the most condition-sensitive of all caramel-card issues. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $7,637.50
