1909-1911 E91 American Caramel Collection (64)
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,350.00
1909-1911 E91 American Caramel Company collection of sixty-four different cards (of the ninety-nine cards in the set) including seventeen Hall of Famers: Tinker, Speaker, Johnson, Wagner, Chance, Brown, Evers, Mathewson, McGraw, Bender, Plank, Hooper, Baker, Collins, Marquard, Clarke, and Willis. As is often the case with E91s, this collection is not in high grade. These cards appear to have been vintage handcut from a sheet. Approximately 50% range from Good to Vg in appearance, and approximately 50% range from Fair to Fr-Gd. This is still a very attractive (and, for E91s, a very large) collection of one of the most interesting and distinctive of all caramel card sets. The E91 set is sometimes referred to as the "fake design" set because the company used generic illustrations, rather than actual likenesses, of ballplayers. Thus, the exact same drawing (with team change on uniform) was used for two or three different players. This is an impressive low-to-medium grade collection of these unusual caramel cards, including many Hall of Famers. Total 64 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
