1936 R61 Government Agents vs. Public Enemies Near-Complete Set (16 of 24 cards)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $2,232.50

Extremely high-grade near-complete set of sixteen (out of 24 cards in the set) "Government Agents vs. Public Enemies" cards issued in 1936 by M. Pressner & Company. Missing the following eight cards for completion: #204, 205, 207, 208, 211, 222, 223, and 224. This set includes some of the highest-grade cards in existence from this series. Five cards (#203, 212, 213, 215, 220) have been graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. All five of these cards are each only "1 of 1" graded by PSA with no other examples at any level graded by PSA. The remaining twelve cards grade as follows: #201 (Vg-Ex), 202 (Vg-Ex), 206 (Ex), 209 (Vg-Ex/Ex+), 210 (Ex), 214 (Ex), 216 (Ex), 217 (Vg-Ex/Ex), 218 (Vg-Ex/Ex), 219 (Ex), and 221 (Vg-Ex/Ex). Although their grades are technically accurate, even the weakest examples from this group have an Ex or Ex-Mt appearance. The quality of the colors and the condition of the cards are very noticeably superior to that of examples normally found. It is obvious that these cards have been carefully stored away since 1936, protected from light and all other natural elements, to have survived in this condition. This is a crisp high-grade group of these unusual, scarce, and very colorful 1930s cards which celebrate law enforcement and capture the spirit of the times. Total 16 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600+. SOLD FOR $2,232.50
