1924-1925 National Biscuit Company Wagon and Truck Advertising Poster Collection (4)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,115.00

Each of these four National Biscuit Company advertising posters, dating from either 1924 or 1925, was originally produced for display on the company's sales trucks and wagons. It was the National Biscuit Company's policy to promote different products on a continuing basis and, as such, company drivers were given new posters each week to display on their trucks or wagons. The company placed great importance on product promotion and even maintained a full-time staff of in-house artists to keep pace with the creation of each week's new posters and in-store displays. When looking at the sheer beauty of these pieces, it is no wonder that the National Biscuit Company's baked goods were the product of choice for most Americans at the time. Two of these posters are holiday issues (both December 1924) and feature Santa with a stocking full of National Biscuit Company treats, while the other two promote Oreo Sandwich cookies (July 1925) and Moonbeams (July 1924), respectively. A company code dates each poster precisely in the lower right-hand corner. Each poster measures 27 x 35 inches and has been dry mounted onto a foam board backing. What is most important to note about these pieces is their near-pristine condition. Each of these posters was never displayed on a truck or wagon and, instead, originates from the company's archives. We can't imagine a finer surviving example of any of these posters and don't know for a fact if another example of any of these posters even exits. At the very least they are extremely rare. With the exception of a few light ripples (from the mounting process) and a tiny abrasion to one of the Santa posters, all four posters are in Near Mint condition. The posters have been framed in pairs (displayed back to back, with loops at top for hanging) to total dimensions of 29 x 37 inches and can be easily removed from the frame if so desired. Total: 4 posters housed in two separate frames. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,115.00
