1956 Original 45 RPM Records by The Cadillacs - "The Girl I Love" - Complete Shipping Box (100 Records)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,175.00
Complete original 1956 shipping box of one-hundred Mint original 45 RPM. records by The Cadillacs, each in its original paper sleeve as issued, released by Josie Records in 1956. Each record is identical and features the hit song "The Girl I Love" on the "A" side and "That's All I Need" on the "B" side. The Cadillacs were at the height of their popularity in 1956, having taken the recording world by storm the previous year with their most famous recording, "Speedo." The records are still housed in their original cardboard shipping box, labeled "Josie 805," and literally have not seen the light of day since 1956. Somehow this original box of records, shipped to a store in 1956, was overlooked and has been perfectly preserved complete and intact for the past fifty years. This is a very unusual original find of vintage records by one of the era's top "Do Wopp" R & B groups. Our consignor has had this complete box for decades. Many years ago he also had a partial box with a couple of dozen additional records, which he long ago sold off individually, keeping the complete box of one-hundred intact. This is the entire balance of the find. The Goldmine Price Guide to 45 RPM Records list these records at $100 each in Near Mint condition, for a total "book value" of $10,000. Total: 100 45 RPM records. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,175.00
