Historic 1882-1884 Carson City Morgan Dollar Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $822.50

Collection of three Carson City Silver Dollars dating, respectively, from the years 1882, 1883, and 1884. These examples were sold by the United States General Service Administration in the early 1970s. Each coin is encapsulated in an individual holder labeled “Carson City – Uncirculated Silver Dollar” and is accompanied by an information sheet detailing the history of the coins. These coins were part of an extraordinary historic find of Carson City silver dollars discovered in Treasury Department bank vaults during a Treasury audit in 1964. All were minted in Carson City, Nevada, and were found in their original U.S. Mint bags. The government encapsulated the coins in this manner and sold them to collectors. Each of the coins displays moderate surface wear including a few light scratches and/or abrasions. Total: 3 coins. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $822.50
